Anita Cunha Vegan Chef Extraordinaire!

"May the universe never abuse food.
Breath is food;
the body eats food,
this body rests on breath.
Breath rests on the body;
Food is resting on food. The one who knows this
becomes rich in food and great in fame."

- Taittiriya Upanishad

Anita Cunha, our dear friend and beautiful Vegan Chef joins us today. She specializes in creating perfectly balanced Ayurvedic cuisine. We’re learning about her journey down the path of self-discovery through her love for spice and food. She has a beautiful book called, “VEGAN INDIA: My Love Affair With The Land Of Spice” in which she shares much of her story along with incredibly delicious recipes.

We met Anita back in 2019, during a tour, while she was acting as a personal chef for our famous yoga teacher (the current Guru of the Ashtanga yoga) Sharath Jois. Today we’re talking about yoga, meditation, the band A-ha, and the mantra So’hum.

Anita believes it’s possible to gain esoteric knowledge of our body and mind through changing our eating habits. Flavors and smells have the power to bring transformation and change our consciousness. And today we’re hearing all about her love affair with India and how she learned Hindi, and eventually after traveling for several years, found herself working as the head chef at the Purple Valley Yoga Center in Goa.

In her view, language, culture, religion, and food are intimately linked together and it’s impossible not to touch all these aspects of a culture when we decide to be a part of it. We’re able to understand others through stepping into their lived experiences through food and culture.
