Building a Harmonious Life with a Successful Coaching Business

As a yoga + breathwork teacher, meditation practitioner, and holistic wellness coach, I've always been fascinated by the intricate balance of life, work, and spiritual practice…

In today's podcast episode, I had the privilege of interviewing Kelsey Murphy, a phenomenal business coach and an inspiring human, whom I've had the pleasure of working closely with for the past four years.

She is a mom of three small, beautiful girls, all under the age of seven. She's also an entrepreneur, running an online coaching business. She's a sister, daughter, and wife… and still has health goals, spiritual goals, and life goals outside of all these roles and responsibilities.

Today, we're talking about the delicate balance between career, health, joy, and family life.

This balance is something I grapple with myself, sharing the belief that we can do and be anything, all while still working hard to find the time to squeeze in my own spiritual rituals and self-care routines.

Kelsey shares her strategies for maintaining this equilibrium, emphasizing the need to prioritize and delegate. Her insights reminded me of the yama (yogic discipline) of aparigraha, or ‘non-grasping’, where letting go and trusting others plays a crucial role in our personal growth and inner peace.

We explore her journey into life coaching, which eventually transitioned into coaching coaches starting their own business.

Much like the path of yoga, her story is one of self-discovery and introspection. Through our yoga practice we come to understand the importance of looking inward, and Kelsey’s experience beautifully mirrors this practice. She spoke about the significance of understanding oneself to thrive in the external world - a concept that’s central to both yoga and becoming an effective coach.

We also look at entrepreneurship through the lens of spirituality. Kelsey’s perspective on business echoes my own experience of using business as a spiritual practice — It’s about facing fears, embracing challenges, and growing beyond our comfort zones.

This conversation is a testament to how the lessons we learn on the mat are incredibly relevant in our daily lives -- even in the realm of business!

Kelsey Murphy is a Career & Business Coach for Fortune 500 companies like Facebook and Twitter, along with entrepreneurs like Kelly Leveque (Jessica Alba's Nutritionist). She is also the host of The Whiskey & Work Podcast, which has been said to be "Magic... full of contagious energy, relevant information, motivation, tips, and experience". Previously Kelsey was the Advertising Account Director for Nintendo, Go Pro, and Elizabeth Arden -and now she coaches people who want to feel different about their work—more purposeful, more lit up, more satisfied. She's been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, Huffington Post, LiveStrong, Living Healthy and LaurenConrad. But on her other business card it might say snowboarder, eater, dreamer and fresh-air-addict.
