In this episode of the Finding Harmony Podcast, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Sevket (Recep), whose life story reads like an adventure novel!

From the competitive world of professional tennis to the serene and spiritual landscapes of yoga in Mysore, India, Sevket's journey is a testament to the power of transformation and the endless possibilities that yoga opens up.

From Competition to Compassion

Sevket’s transition from the high-stakes world of professional tennis to the introspective practice of yoga is a powerful reminder of the transformative potential within all of us.

His story challenges us to rethink our definitions of success and to consider how shifting our focus from external achievements to inner awareness can lead to a more fulfilling life.

Yoga is more than just a physical practice; it's a journey of self-discovery and healing.

There is a strength within vulnerability, a wisdom in our wounds, and a true power in slowing down to be with our emotions. Healing invites us to let go of what no longer serves us, to make room for growth, new possibilities, and a deeper connection with our authenticity.

The Magic of Turkey: A Exploration through Yoga

Turkey, with its rich history, stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, provides a unique backdrop for the practice of yoga.

One can’t help but feel the passion as Sevket shares his insights, reflecting on the beauty and diversity of his enchanting homeland.

From the significance of cats in Istanbul to the ancient city of Ephesus, Turkey is a place where the past and present coexist, inviting travellers and yoga students to deepen their practice amidst its wonders.

Joining us for a retreat in Alacati is not merely about practising yoga in a new setting; it’s about bringing together a group of like-minded individuals, who share a love for exploration, personal growth, and allowing yourself to reset to a much more relaxed pace, reminiscent of an time long past.

From the Turkish coffee to the Turkish tea, from the local shops to the government, from it's people and cultural heritage to it's love for bread and cheese, we're sitting down with one of the most fervently Turkish humans I've ever had the pleasure to meet!

Sevket's story is a beautiful example of how yoga can bridge worlds, connecting people across cultures and backgrounds in shared moments of tranquility and deeper self-discovery.

We invite you to listen to the full episode with Sevket (Recep), where we dive into his inspiring story and the lessons it holds for all of us on our yoga journey.

And perhaps, you'll be inspired to join us on our next retreat in the beautiful shores of Alacati! Where you can expect incredible vegetarian Turkish food, time to leisurely explore the beautiful cobblestone lanes and colourful antique shops this area is renowned for, and of course, relax at the beach soaking up the magic of the Eastern Aegean Sea and the transformative power of yoga!

Our next retreat is July 1-10, 2024!
