Tantra Flow with Jeanne Heileman

When Jeanne Heileman became a yoga teacher in 1996, there was no career for this field. She had the intention to teach once a week as a work supplement in the non-profit arts world to pay off her graduate school student debt.

Three months after taking her first teacher training she found herself teaching 20 classes a week! A total life transformation that continued to evolve into her own style of yoga called Tantra Flow, which combines her 35 years of study in the practices and science of yogic disciplines, combining her love for asana, meditation, pranayama, mantra, Ayurveda, Buddhism, and Tantra in the living lineage of Sri Vidya, from Himalayan Institute under Swami Rama and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait.

In this episode, we’re talking about what makes a good yoga teacher and some of the insights Jeanne has gained through her years of practicing under the guidance of many different teachers. Experience bring wisdom and Jeanne has a depth of perspective that is rare in teachers today.

Jeanne Heileman was introduced to yoga while studying at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco in 1985 as a dancer and actress. Facing ongoing pain from scoliosis, yoga provided tools for physical realignment and acceptance of difficulties. From thereon out, she took yoga wherever she traveled. Jeanne has studied extensively in the styles of Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara, ParaYoga, Vini and Tantra Yoga; each adding a new perspective and insight to the practice. In her quest for a deeper and meaningful connection to all that yoga has to offer, she began studying meditation, initially in the Buddhist tradition and eventually on the Tantric path. Jeanne has been a dedicated meditator since 2001 and has spent months in India on pilgrimages dedicated to her practice.
