We start off this episode with a cautionary tale about what happens when you experience debilitating back pain and don’t listen to your body, but try to work through the pain.

Our guest Sally Parkes, began her journey in the health and fitness industry in 1998 after qualifying as a personal trainer and gaining a bachelor in Sport Science in the year 2001.

Soon after, she experienced a deep calling to explore a more holistic approach to movement and breath, which led to Sally certifying as a yoga and pranayama teacher, training with Paul Dallaghan and Sri O.P.Tiwari at Yoga Thailand, where Harmony first met her during the time she was living and teaching there.

We dive deep into the troubling beginnings of what brought Sally to the this path of yoga in the first place. A path which she believes wholeheartedly saved her life.

Since then, Sally has gone on to train as a doula with Michel O’Dent and as a Pilates teacher with A.P.P.I.  (Australian Pilates Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute), and has established her own yoga teacher training school The Sally Parkes Yoga Academy in 2010, training over 1500 yoga teachers to date. Now specializing in solely women’s wellness, Sally’s academy offers yoga that honors the cycles of  menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, postnatal and menopause.

In addition to being a mother of two beautiful girls, she’s also a Global Ambassador for Yoga Gives Back. Sally is a regular writer for “Om Yoga and Lifestyle Magazine.”

She’s authored 3 books including a bestseller called, The Manual of Yoga Anatomy, in addition to: The Yoga Healing Handbook, and The Modern Essential Guide to Yoga: Discover the Best Postures, Meditations, and Breathing Exercises for Complete Physical and Spiritual Well-Being

Sally regularly teaches online with Movement for Modern Life - Online Yoga Classes + Free Yoga App and has written articles for them.

She has her own online platform: Sally Parkes Yoga Club - where you can access exclusive online yoga classes
